Designing for Growth: From Consolidation to Future State Planning

At LTS, we design laboratories that don’t just meet today’s needs — we build for what’s next.

Tribal Diagnostics appointed LTS to lead the consolidation and future state planning of its Oklahoma City facility.

The project combined detailed lab design with long-range operational forecasting — planning for 1-year, 5-year, and 10-year growth scenarios.

The outcome? A smartly consolidated, future-focused lab environment built to scale with demand and maintain operational excellence.

Challenge Consolidating Today, Forecasting Tomorrow The challenge was balancing current operational demands with future expansion — without overbuilding or disrupting services.

Each department had specific requirements for space, adjacency, and function — and all needed to be accounted for within a flexible, scalable layout
Tribal Diagnostics needed to consolidate its lab operations into one facility while planning for substantial growth. 1/3
Approach Data-Led Planning Meets Operational Design Using Revit and BIM workflows, we developed design concepts that incorporated staff growth, volume projections, and logistics planning. We mapped adjacency needs, optimised lab and warehouse flow, and integrated health, safety, and support functions.

The result was a flexible masterplan with clarity on how to scale over time — from courier zones and sample routing to autoclave, wash-up, and specialist lab areas.
LTS facilitated remote workshops to gather operational intelligence, map workflows, and build detailed future state scenarios. 2/3
Result A Scalable Lab Ecosystem That Evolves with Demand With operational clarity and technical foresight built into every room, the lab can accommodate demand increases while maintaining flow, compliance, and performance.

It’s a high-functioning, flexible foundation for Tribal Diagnostics’ continued expansion across the US diagnostics landscape.
The new Tribal Diagnostics facility is now positioned for controlled, phased growth — without compromise. 3/3
